Arab countries Unison Eid Day

Committee Decision 1 Syawal United Arab Emirates decided the first day of Eid al-Fitrfalls on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. At a meeting Monday night, the committee ledJustice Minister Juan Hadif Al Dahiri stated that the new moon or new moon had appeared.

Hilal is the first observable crescent on the western horizon just after sunset, whichappears as streaks of light that thin line.

After making digital observations of the moon sighting, the committee agreed thatMonday became the last day of Ramadan. "We also contacted neighboring countriesbefore deciding on a Shawwal," said Sakher Abdullah Al Saif, an astronomer who sitsas a member of the committee, as quoted from the pages of Gulf News.

Al-Saif said that seeing the new moon sightings to determine the first day of Eid al-Fitrthis year to be a tough task. "In the last two days, the moon is outside the horizon aftersunset, so it is difficult to determine the first day of Shawwal," he said.

In order to confirm the new moon had appeared, the committee uses two mainparameters for consideration. First, the crescent moon should appear on the horizon at least 16 hours. Second, the crescent moon should appear over 17 degrees fromhorizon.

The Committee uses digital observations to detect the new moon. With digitaltelescope, allowing them to make observations during the day, also make sure that thenew moon had appeared on the horizon for 16 hours.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar also agreed to celebrate 1st Syawal on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Some countries also make similar decisions such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen,Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon.
